Not just once, Obama admin used tear gas 80 times at the border - Report

For years, the so-called “establishment press” has steadily surrendered its journalistic ethics in pursuit of a Left-wing political agenda that focuses more on protecting certain people in power rather than expose them for the good of the country and the American people. Before Barack Obama was elected, the establishment media at least made some effort to hide its liberal bias. But as it is becoming increasingly apparent Obama was the Left’s Messiah, the establishment press went all-in to back him and protect him from scrutiny, even as his administration worked to chill press freedoms with the full weight of government. That said, it’s a wonder why the very same press that worked so hard to cover for Obama’s many faults and his administration’s many missteps even as he persecuted or dismissed them is going out of its way to destroy POTUS Donald Trump, a president who is regularly angered by the media but gives them far more access than Obama ever did. Case in point: The current reporting on the “crisis” involving thousands of caravan migrants along the U.S.-Mexico border. Earlier this week, U.S. Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection agents were forced to use tear gas and pepper bullets to disperse about 1,000 migrants who were ‘storming’ the border near the San Ysidro crossing outside of Tijuana.  During the assault, some women and children were caught up in the melee, but that’s largely because the mostly male migrant invaders purposefully placed them in the path of the gas. As The National Sentinel reports: …[W]hat ’the media’ failed to report was why anyone was gassed: Male migrants became overly aggressive, stormed the border, and began pelting agents with rocks and bottles. San Diego Chief Border Patrol Agent Rodney Scott said that personnel did not use tear gas, pepper balls, and other dispersion techniques until after his agents were attacked. “Several agents were actually struck by rocks,” Scott said. The Left was outraged by the gassing, and the establishment press fed into their anger by misreporting and misrepresenting what was actually taking place. Media misrepresentation is intentional

But there’s more journalistic malpractice going on here. As Breitbart News reported, it only took just a small amount of research to find that during the Obama administration, migrants and illegal immigrants along the border were gassed many more times — up to 80 times, in fact, between 2012-2016.  Border Patrol and CBP began using the kind of sprays and gases used earlier this week in 2010, the news site noted.  Here are the numbers, compliments of CBP,  beginning with the use of tear gas and then the use of pepper spray: “CBP takes Sunday’s employment of use-of-force very seriously. CBP reviews and evaluates all uses of force incidents to ensure compliance with policy,” a CBP spokesman told Breitbart News. “Over 1,000 individuals who were part of the so-called caravan attempted to cross illegally into the U.S. by breaching sections of the fence and using vehicle lanes in and near the San Ysidro Port of Entry. This group ignored law enforcement agencies in Mexico and assaulted U.S. Federal Officers and Agents assigned to respond to the situation in San Diego. “As a response to the assaults and to defuse this dangerous situation, trained CBP personnel employed less-lethal devices to stop the actions of assaultive individuals attempting to break into the U.S.,” the spokesman noted, adding that the agency had been “preparing for weeks” for the migrant onslaught and how to deal with situations like that which occurred on Sunday. Current CBP policies regarding the use of force were adopted in 2014, Breitbart noted. They require all agents to be trained in the use of each weapon employed during operations including less-than-lethal devices. It’d be a great service the American people and the president who is trying to protect our borders if the establishment media took the time to report these events accurately, and in context.
