Now that it's been determined by the liberal mob that allowing teachers to grade their students' work is racist, sexist, and homophobic, the ever "progressive" Columbia University in New York City has come up with a solution: Let students simply grade their own work. According to Mish Talk, so-called "inclusive grading" is the best way forward to ensure that no student is ever discriminated against with anything less than an A+ on every single assignment that he, she, or zim submits within the microcosm of leftist academia.

A PowerPoint presentation entitled, "Trusting Students to Assess Themselves," put together by Columbia's Center for Teaching and Learning, explains how the school's "inclusive grading" systems works, and how it will allegedly benefit students by affirming their collective A+ status in everything they do. "Grades (and institutional rankings) are currency for a capitalist system that reduces teaching and learning to a mere transaction," one of the PowerPoint slides explains (emphasis included). "Grading is a massive coordinated effort to take humans out of the educational process." "Grades have been naturalized in EDU to the point that new teachers don't feel they can safely explore alternative approaches to assessment," the same slide adds, quoting a community college professor named Jesse Stommel who supports "inclusive grading." According to Columbia faculty, doing away with all teacher-issued grades and allowing students to simply give themselves A+ grades on everything they do aligns with the school's mission of making everyone feel "included." And to stop students from cheating, Columbia plans to implement an "Honor Code" where students simply sign a card stating that they won't cheat – which is sure to work like a charm (end sarcasm). It won't come as a surprise to learn that the vast majority of students at Columbia – some 87 percent – are supportive of the changes, because it means that they'll finally be able to get straight As without having to do any real work.

Leftist professors at Berkeley pushing to do away with teacher evaluations because most students prefer white male professors

These changes at Columbia follow similar ones at the University of California, Berkeley, where teacher evaluations by students are now being scrapped because too many students prefer to have white males teaching them, which isn't politically correct. Brian DeLay, a professor of history at Berkeley – where free speech is now completely off-limits – is among the leftist social engineers who's pushed to do away with teacher evaluations because they tended to favor white male professors – of whom he's also one, naturally. "Over the next few weeks, students will get the chance to evaluate their professors and TAs," DeLay tweeted recently, adding, "They're going to get it wrong. They'll be harder on women and people of color than on white men. Tenured white male faculty, in particular, should help their students understand this." In other words, there can't be any more grades because grades are racist. And there can't be any more teacher evaluations because those, too, are racist. Maybe it's time to completely do away with higher education altogether because it's inherently racist, and revert back to living in huts and dancing around a fire – oh, wait, that's racist, too!
