How do covid-19 deaths compare to 9/11, the Las Vegas shooting and other high death toll events?

With covid-19 (coronavirus) deaths now approaching 34,000 in the United States (worldometers.info), it's important to accurately assess the scale of the deaths vs. other important "disaster" events in American history. Given that the Wuhan coronavirus was engineered as a biological weapon, it counts as a "man-made" disaster. This is especially true given that communist China deliberately spread the virus to the rest of the world -- a fact the mainstream media is now finally starting to uncover in their own reporting. We've created a chart that details the covid-19 deaths vs other notable events in US history, including 9/11, the Oklahoma City bombing, the Las Vegas shooting, Hurricane Maria, etc. As you can see from the chart, as of April 16th, 2020, covid-19 deaths are more than 10 times higher than the next largest event (Hurricane Maria) in terms of total dead. As the covid-19 numbers will continue to climb for many months, it's eventually going to dwarf these other events in terms of total fatalities: Astute readers may note that it's apples and oranges, comparing covid-19 (an infectious disease), against non-infectious events such as 9/11. That's a rational point, yet people who are trying to downplay the severity of the virus are now routinely comparing covid-19 deaths against cancer, heart disease, car accidents, obesity and all sorts of other things which are not infectious diseases and that have no single common initiating event. Covid-19 was initiated by China, whereas cancer and heart disease are slow, degenerative diseases that take decades to develop in each individual. So comparing covid-19 deaths to degenerative disease makes no sense at all. What covid-19 has in common with all the events in this chart is that all these events were initiated on a single date and struck the world essentially all at once. Some were man-made (such as 9/11), and others were the result of natural events (such as hurricanes). Yet they all originated outside the control of the people who were victimized by such events. Also, note how the left-wing media went insane over the Charlottesville "attack" as a way to smear Trump supporters as Nazis, but the entire thing revolved around a single death. Compare that to the 33,000+ deaths already attributed to the coronavirus (which the media is of course trying to blame on Trump anyway). It just goes to highlight the left-wing media overreaction to relatively small events. And in this particular case with the coronavirus, we are witnessing a conservative media under-reaction to the severity of covid-19, where conservative publishers have been desperately grasping at any argument they can find to try to claim this virus is "no worse than the flu." Interestingly, according to the CDC, the seasonal flu killed 34,157 people across the entire flu season (2018 - 20219). That number of deaths will be exceeded tomorrow by the coronavirus, and the coronavirus deaths all took place in just three months, not a full year. By the time this year is over, coronavirus deaths will vastly exceed seasonal flu deaths by a wide margin, and the coronavirus probably hasn't even infected 1% of the U.S. population yet.
