Japanese researchers examined the effect of a dietary supplement containing kurozu (black vinegar) concentrate on human visceral fat accumulation. They reported their findings in an article published in the Japanese Journal of Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
  • The researchers administered the supplement containing kurozu concentrate orally to sixteen participants for eight weeks.
  • The low-dose group received 500 mg of the supplement daily, while the high-dose group received 1,000 mg a day.
  • Before and after the intervention, hematological analysis, urinalysis and CT-scan were conducted to estimate visceral fat accumulation in the participants.
  • The researchers found that the supplement significantly decreased visceral fat and systolic blood pressure in the high-dose group.
  • It also significantly increased HDL cholesterol levels.
  • The supplement did not cause adverse effects or abnormal hematological values in either group.
Based on these findings, the researchers concluded that the dietary supplement containing kurozu concentrate can help prevent metabolic syndrome.
