WATCH: Dan ‘McCain 2.0’ Crenshaw calls himself an 'environmentalist' and says 'climate change is real'

Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) recently came out of the closet, outing himself as a so-called “rational environmentalist” in a Facebook video repeating leftist talking points about the evil of carbon emissions. And I know climate change is real,” Crenshaw said to open his video. “I’m also rational – and I know that wasting your tax dollars on crazy Green New Deals will put millions out of work and drastically increase your electric bill and your taxes,” he added. Crenshaw is trying to stake out a middle ground in which he cedes some ground to the Left in order to get in the so-called “national discussion” on environmental policy. This is a rehash of the weak brand of compassionate Republicanism that resulted in eight years of Barack Hussein Obama in the White House. He claims that his plan is to “make America the world leader in clean energy” by reducing carbon emissions. “I’m Dan Crenshaw, and I approve this message because if we come together, we can put America on the path to a new energy frontier,” he said to conclude his video. The full Facebook video can be seen here. While Crenshaw may just be outing himself as an environmentalist right now, Big League Politics has noted his capitulations to Democrats on the issue. Earlier this year, Crenshaw betrayed the free market and demanded federal action to coerce American businesses into reducing their carbon emissions:
Rep. Dan “McCain 2.0” Crenshaw (R-TX) came out with an op/ed this week in National Review arguing that conservatives need to embrace the reality of climate change and propose a government solution to the supposed problem. “With ever-more-extreme “solutions” such as the Green New Deal being proposed, conservatives have quickly taken the bait, falling into the tired political trap set by leftists. But I believe we no longer have to do this. We can fight back against the alarmism with tangible solutions based on reason, science, and the free market,” he wrote. Crenshaw bragged in the op/ed that he is working with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) on a globalist plan to defeat climate change. “After all, climate change is a global issue, and with global energy demand expected to increase by 25 percent over the next 20 years, there is a distinct need for the U.S. to export cleaner energy sources to the developing world, as well as to the biggest CO2 emitters, such as China and India,” he wrote. Crenshaw’s plan is called the New Energy Frontier, and he wants the government to pick winners and losers in the marketplace in order to support natural-gas technology that he claims is carbon neutral. He wants more bureaucracy to be put in place in order to facilitate his big government solution. “I also propose creating a new “Carbon Utilization Energy Innovation Hub,” which will exist within DOE for the sole purpose of exploring how we can make carbon dioxide useful,” he wrote. He claims that if the Republicans do not support a big government solution to climate change, the Democrats will come up with an even bigger government solution for the problem. “Conservatives can either tackle the issue of carbon emissions sensibly by proposing workable solutions, or run the risk of allowing the Democrats to do it for us — with policies that would offer marginal environmental benefits at a devastating cost to the economy,” he wrote. He finished his op/ed with a quote from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and essentially confirmed that he is taking her advice. He concluded: “As Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), my colleague, said of this dichotomy, “If you don’t like the Green New Deal, then come up with your own ambitious, on-scale proposal to address the global climate crisis. Until then, we’re in charge.” “We don’t want them in charge. It’s time to start promoting conservative solutions. The New Energy Frontier is exactly that,” Crenshaw wrote.
Crenshaw is a traitor to the America First cause on other key issues as well. He got his start as a Never Trumper and now he supports endless wars, red flag laws and federal climate change policy as a Congressman.
