GOP Texas House Speaker issues arrest warrants for 52 Dems who refuse to show up and do their jobs

Democrats make it obvious by the day that they are a lawless party filled with members who have no respect for the processes of government if they aren't in the majority, demonstrating that they are literally willing to blow the system up for their own selfish political purposes. Case in point: Democrats in the Texas legislature. Nationally, we saw how Democrats literally worked to steal President Donald Trump's reelection last year. And now, in the Lone Star state, Texas Democrats fled their Capitol to deny majority Republicans a quorum so they could pass an election integrity bill that would stop Democrats from stealing elections in that state the way they did in states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia and Arizona. Thankfully, Republicans in Texas have a spine and are fighting back. Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan is using state law to issue arrest warrants for 52 House Democrats who walked out on the current special legislative session for a third time, leaving him and the remaining lawmakers little choice. USA Features News reports: Phelan moved forward with the warrants after the Texas House voted 80-12 to have the errant Democratic members arrested. It was the second time that a similar vote was taken during the Democrats’ ongoing efforts to deny majority Republicans a quorum. Also Tuesday, the Texas Supreme Court overturned a lower state court’s ruling that barred the legislature from issuing arrest warrants for the absent Democrats. “Democrats were hoping that their flit would deny the statehouse the minimum number of lawmakers required to conduct official business — by fleeing the state to stop Republicans’ agenda to potentially ban drive-thru and 24-hour voting, among other sweeping restrictions,” the Daily Mail added. "The Supreme Court of Texas swiftly rejected this dangerous attempt by Texas Democrats to undermine our Constitution and avoid doing the job they were elected to do," Abbott spokesperson, Renae Eze, told Fox News. "We look forward to the Supreme Court upholding the rule of law and stopping another stall tactic by the Texas Democrats." Naturally, Democrats remained arrogant despite the fact that they are in the wrong, not Republicans. In a video posted to Twitter, 'fugitive' Rep Ron Reynolds said he and his Democratic colleagues "would be going to a jail, we would be going to the House chambers where they would basically be forcing a quorum." "They would take us against our will to the House floor," he noted further. https://twitter.com/JanelleKHOU/status/1425154051482718227 Rep. Celia Israel, who serves the 50th district of Texas, returned to her home district on the outskirts of the capital of Austin and sounded a defiant note, claiming that Republicans would not follow through on they arrest warrants because she's a "woman of color." “I think they’re bluffing. Do they really want to arrest a woman of color?” she said. “They’re just thumping their chests.” When she was asked by the Daily Mail if she planned to return to the Capitol, she responded, "hell no," and added that Texas House Democrats have a legal team working on their behalf “punching and counter-punching happening by the hour.” “I just question whether [the Texas Department of Public Safety] or anyone can break down my door to come and put me in shackles and drag me there,” noted a defiant Democratic state Rep. Vikki Goodwin. “I feel certain that I can stay in my home, and stay off the House floor.” State Rep. Chris Turner, chair of the Texas House Democratic Caucus, added in his own statement Tuesday it’s “fully within our rights as legislators to break quorum to protect our constituents.” Mind you, these people were elected by voters of their districts to show up to the Capitol and be the voice of the voters who sent them. By running like cowards, they deny their voters the voice they deserve, even if legislation outcomes aren't what they want. That's how the process works. But Democrats would rather blow up our system than be in the minority -- which they wouldn't be if they had superior policies.
