Left-wing Texas media outlet forced to correct false claim that "thousands" of children were hospitalized for COVID in single week

America is suffering a crisis of trust in its most fundamental institutions because the people who run them are political hacks and Marxist 'revolutionaries' out to destroy our country as founded. And of course, one of the mistrusted of all institutions is the media. Mistrust in the media has always been an issue but it was kicked into overdrive beginning with the Obama regime when one outlet after another gushed over the country's first black president -- and of course, it didn't hurt that he was a Marxist, too. Distrust was kicked into high gear, though, after Donald Trump became president because there wasn't a day that went by when the mainstream press didn't lie about the man, his administration and his accomplishments. And when the media wasn't outright lying about Trump, they would lie through acts of omission, leaving critical details out of their reports that, if mentioned, would have completely blown up the lie, naturally. Now, trust in the press has nearly disintegrated; one outlet after another has consistently lied or "misreported" on the COVID-19 pandemic in a way that they have always overhyped and lied about "climate change." As reported last week by The Epoch Times, one of the few trustworthy outlets remaining: A Texas news outlet on Thursday issued a correction after falsely reporting that thousands of children were hospitalized in the state in a single week with COVID-19. The Texas Tribune claimed that over 5,800 children were hospitalized during one week in August. The outlet cited the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in making the claim. However, the outlet later acknowledged it interpreted the information wrongly. “That number correctly referred to children hospitalized with COVID-19 since the pandemic began. In actuality, 783 children were admitted to Texas hospitals with COVID-19 between July 1 and Aug. 9 of this year,” the Tribune said. The Texas Tribune bills itself as somewhat of an 'investigative' news outlet but in reality, the investigations only go one way: Left. The outlet rarely offers any favorable views of majority Republicans who run the state, while at the same time providing all-positive coverage of Democrats and slobbering praise. As for the wrongly reported child COVID numbers, in its correction, the Tribune said that an earlier version of the story “overstated the number of children who have been hospitalized in Texas recently with COVID-19.” But of course, before the correction was issued, the left-wing media gaslighters like the Washington Post's Jennifer Rubin spread the false claim far and wide. Media experts and critics like Steve Krakauer not only ripped the false claim but also the media gaslighters like Rubin who failed to issue a follow-up correction to their social media followers. “How does a mistake this massive, this incomprehensible, happen? Keep in mind, The Texas Tribune has a COVID database that’s actually very useful. It shows there are approximately 10,000 Texans hospitalized with COVID right now in the entire state. And yet a reporter, an editor, multiple national journalists, didn’t stop to consider the 5,800 figure?” Krakauer noted in his newsletter late last week. “There’s only one way this happens—it’s when the truth isn’t the goal of the reporting. No, fear-based reporting, meant to convey panic and with the goal of compliance, is how we end up with such massive data and journalistic errors,” he correctly argued. But it wasn't just media gaslighters who refused to discuss the correction; The Epoch Times noted that the Texas Trib's story author and editor wouldn't respond to a request for comment -- the opportunity to actually explain what happened and why, and inform the public what the outlet is doing to ensure false reports don't happen again. Which, of course, leads to the suspicion that the fake numbers were purposely published. No wonder more and more Americans refuse to trust the media. Sources include: TheEpochTimes.com Awakening.news
