Flashback: GoFundMe allowed support for CHAZ/CHOP zone in Seattle even after murders

The GoFundMe platform came under fire last week for initially denying millions in donations from going to the Freedom Convoy truckers in Canada, allegedly because there was 'violence' involved in their anti-vaccine protest in the capital of Ottawa. But of course, like all left-wing platforms, GoFundMe is run by massive hypocrites who are so comfortable with being hypocrites they don't even try to hide it. As reported by The Post Millennial, the platform that sought to deny funds to peaceful Canadian truckers allowed people to use GoFundMe to raise money for occupants of the CHOP/CHAZ zone that was carved out of a neighborhood in Seattle, Wash., in the summer of 2020, shortly after the George Floyd incident -- and even after there were murders inside the zone. "As detailed by Jack Posobiec on Twitter, GoFundMe tweeted an advertisement publicizing one of the many crowdfunds set up in the CHAZ/CHOP, which was established by Black Lives Matter supporters, local gangs, and elements of Antifa, who set up a cop-free perimeter that encased several neighborhoods in Seattle’s Capitol Hill district," the outlet continued. “In a community with no police, this farmer is feeding people & bringing them closer together," the GoFundMe campaign claimed -- despite the fact that several people, including three minors, were shot and killed during the roughly three-week occupation that was a total act of anarchy in the middle of a major U.S. city. The organization that launched the GoFundMe campaign for CHOP zone 'residents' linked to a Bloomberg Quicktake video about 'revolutionary gardening,' which was summarily ridiculed on social media after videos and photos showed a "garden" that was being planted on cardboard spread out on the turf and then covered with some soil. "Crucially, GoFundMe has supported violent, illegal movements such as CHAZ/CHOP but has cited 'police reports of violence and other unlawful activity' and its policies against 'violence and harassment' as its reason for initially seizing the Freedom Convoy’s crowdfund" of nearly $10 million. The platform then said it would be donating the funds to several groups including Black Lives Matter, but decided against that following a major outcry and instead will be refunding the money to the people who donated it. But the point is taken: Violence in the name of left-wing causes is perfectly okay with GoFundMe, but even 'reports of violence' for causes of freedom and liberty in the face of tyrannical COVID-19 policies simply cannot be allowed. Same old, same old when it comes to the left: Hypocrisy is a way of life. A requirement, even. Meanwhile, in a blatant act of tyranny, the chief of police in Ottawa has threatened his officers, as well as residents, with arrest and prosecution if they dare to provide any of the Canadian truckers taking part in the protests with food, water, fuel or any "logistics." That said, a social media user over the weekend posted a screengrab of a tweet the Ottawa Police Service sent out in 2020 praising BLM and vowing to provide supporters with a "safe space" where they could protest and be violent. "We respect the rights of our residents and community members to speak out when they see injustices and we understand the community's deep pain and frustration," the police service tweet said. "Our role is to provide a safe space for people to grieve and be heard." Liberty-minded people throughout Western societies are becoming increasingly fed up with the blatant hypocrisy coming from left-wing tyrants (and their big tech platforms) who think they have a right to pick and choose what they will 'allow' and not allow.
