MP Christopher Chope urges British government to support individuals suffering from COVID vaccine injuries
Christchurch Member of Parliament Sir Christopher Chope has urged the British government to support individuals suffering from the serious side effects of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines.
In a debate regarding the Vaccine Damage Bill, he said: "The scale of this vaccine nightmare is now such that the number of
vaccine damage cases exceeds all cases arising from previous vaccine programs."
If passed, the bill would require the secretary of state to establish an independent review of disablement caused by COVID vaccinations and the adequacy of the compensation offered to those who have been disabled.
Chope said the COVID vaccine compensation bill attracted a lot of interest because of the sheer number of people who have experienced adverse events following their vaccinations. He also said his bill is designed to ensure that those people are given
access to proper compensation from the government for adverse consequences that they may suffer, and is the basis of the existing vaccine damage scheme. However, the government is slow to apply it in practice.
It was reported on February 27 that there were 920 COVID vaccination injury claims registered, but none of them has been accepted or has been the subject of any payment.
"If you are keen as I am to promote vaccine confidence amongst the people, the government needs to say if you do the right thing and accept the vaccination or your children have a vaccine and it turns out to go all wrong, then we will do the best way we can to put you back to where you should have been – in other words, compensate you," Chope said.
The bill already had a debate in the House of Commons in 2021, and according to Chope, he was already contacted by people around the world and had already secured a meeting with vaccines minister Maggie Throup, who was positive that the bill would be approved along the way. However, she did note that she wasn't prepared to commit the government to the no-fault compensation scheme because it is more straightforward and reduces the bureaucracy. (Related:

The government, while sympathetic to the plight of its citizens, is also conflicted on the matter because it doesn't want public discussions about the adverse effects of the vaccines, as they believe that it can undermine vaccine confidence.
Citizens apply for vaccine damage payments
The
Department for Work and Pensions also said that it received 437 applications associated with the COVID vaccines under the existing Vaccine Damage Payments Act 1979. All applications have so far been acknowledged. (Related:

Chope also noted that he received hundreds of emails reporting deaths and serious illnesses involving immune thrombocytopenic purpura, a condition that reduces the number of blood platelets in the system.
On December 15, 2021, the
Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency already received and analyzed 410,232 yellow card reports. Some patients were also reported to have died shortly after vaccination, a tragedy that Chope believes demands the attention of the House.
"The reluctance of the Government to provide timely information is further exemplified by the delay in updating the information provided. Since the last report, we have had a mass of booster vaccines, and some people have written to me saying that they have suffered dire consequences," Chope said.
