Hogan Gidley calls FBI raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home a political witch hunt

Former White House Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley called the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) raid on former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Florida a political witch hunt. "It really does seem like another political witch hunt. A weaponization of a federal agency against a former president of the United States. It puts this country in a very dangerous place," Gidley said in a recent interview with Newsmax's "Wake Up America" hosts Carl Higbie and Alison Maloni. Gidley said this could be a sign of a scary future for America. "A lot of Americans will realize that the federal government can go after anyone with or without evidence," he said. He noted that the FBI has a history of doing things to political opponents it deems dangerous for its own survival and future. According to Gidley, the incident is obviously a problem that people should be concerned and terrified of because the government is trying to take over the life of Americans in every avenue. "They are teaching critical race theory. They are trying to trans our kids. They are taking over elections and now you have them weaponizing these three-letter agencies as well to come after Americans. It really is a systemic issue in this country," Gidley said. The former television news reporter and political aide also said the American people stand to suffer because of the incident and Americans need to do a better job in making sure that these government agencies are nonpolitical. Higbie commented that if there is no legitimate claim or serious evidence that comes out of the FBI raid at Mar-a-Lago, the government needs to get rid of all agents who were involved in the incident.

Political analyst: America is on the brink of another civil war

Political analyst and bestselling author Mark Halperin said until there is proof connecting the raid to the White House, it is not a good idea to throw this idea around because America is on the brink of another civil war. The veteran journalist stressed that putting out allegations that are not verified is not good for the country. "We need to stick to the facts and as a nation gets through this together with as much unity as we can muster as opposed to making false allegations by both sides which only inflame the tensions," Halperin said. Meanwhile, Newsmax national correspondent Mike Carter reported that Trump is set to be deposed by lawyers from New York Attorney General Letitia James' office. Carter said this is part of a civil fraud probe into the Trump organization going back to 2021. He added that Trump had met with House Republicans who told the former president that they stand with him and want him to run for president in 2024. According to Indiana Rep. Jim Banks, the Republicans will hold the Department of Justice accountable for the raid in Trump's home at Mar-a-Lago, Florida, when California Rep. Kevin McCarthy becomes the House Speaker and Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan is appointed chair of the House Judiciary Committee in Congress.
