Claim: Topless "witches" eating a dead deer caught on camera ... HOAX or real?

A Canadian nurse had accidentally documented horrifying scenes involving what appeared to be topless "witches" eating a deer carcass. The incident had some online viewers speculate that this may have been a sort of satanic ritual... or possibly an elaborate hoax. Corinea Stanhope, 36, was riding one of her horses when she came across a dead deer in her garden. "I don't know what the heck was up with that," Stanhope told Kennedy News. "It really freaked us out, it's not something you see every day." Stanhope and her 76-year-old grandfather Bob decided to set up a camera to see if the carcass would attract any critters at night. The next day, her grandpa told her he got naked people caught on cam and showed her the footage. The photos were said to be taken just after sunset and depicted two scantily clad women with long black hair hiding their faces while squatting over and appearing to feast on the remains of the dead deer. "It looks like they have wigs on. One looks like she has blonde hair underneath," she described. But what was scarier, she said, was that the carcass-eating session occurred near their house. "I was concerned about them messing with my horses at night," the medical practitioner said. "The horses always get really spooked and unnerved around that area." As the said images circulated online, viewers could not help but be terror-stricken. "This is actually terrifying," a viewer commented. "That's basically a walking demon from hell," another one wrote. "If you hear screaming stay inside and get a gun. You leave it alone." According to one occult fanatic, the naked ladies were wendigos – native American spirits who possess people and turn them into cannibals. (Related: New York Times promotes cannibalism in new article, tweet.) The Legends of America website described wendigos as flesh eaters of the forests. "This creature has long been known among the Algonquian Ojibwe, Eastern Cree, Saulteaux, Westmain Swampy Cree, Naskapi and Innu peoples. They have described them as giants, many times larger than human beings," the history-focused site included. "Although descriptions can vary somewhat, common to all these cultures is the view that the wendigo is a malevolent, cannibalistic, supernatural being strongly associated with winter, the north, coldness, famine, and starvation."

Stanhope hopes what she caught on cam was just a prank

The nurse said she's hoping that the incident was simply a prank or that the participants were "on some good drugs." A lot of commenters asked if she reported the incident to the police. Her grandpa Bob pointed out that the "witches were actually not doing anything illegal technically." So, she decided against contacting the police. "Either way, perhaps these 'The Craft' cosplayers should consider moving to New York [City], which was named the best city for witches in 2021, according to a study by Lawn Love," the New York Post's Ben Cost wrote. According to reports, the Big Apple has more covens and spiritual supply stores than any other state in America.
