Rogue agency CISA connives with Big Tech to censor speech and manipulate the lives of Americans

There is a thin line that separates the execution of credible and honest government watchdog duties and abuse of power and responsibility. The House Judiciary Committee recently released a report on how the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), which is under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), colluded with Big Tech and "disinformation" partners to censor Americans. The 36-page piece pointed out familiar issues like government actors worked with third parties to overturn the First Amendment; censors prioritized political narratives over truthfulness; and an unaccountable bureaucracy hijacked American society. (Related: House report concludes: CISA engaged in massive COVER-UP of Biden censorship scheme.) The House Report titled: "The Weaponization of CISA: How a 'Cybersecurity' Agency Colluded with Big Tech and 'Disinformation' Partners to Censor Americans," revealed that the agency worked with social media platforms to censor posts it considered dis-, mis- or malinformation. Brian Scully, head of CISA's censorship team, admitted that the " switchboarding " process triggers "content moderation." Said switchboard programs directly contradict sworn testimony from CISA Director Jen Easterly before Congress in March. "We don't censor anything… we don't flag anything to social media organizations at all. We don't do any censorship," Easterly claimed. According to Brownstone Institute's Global Research article, her statement was more than a lie; it omitted the institutionalization of the practice she denied. "The agency's initiatives relied on a collusive apparatus of private-public partnerships designed to suppress unapproved information," the article stated. Former New York Times reporter and author Alex Berenson also claimed that he was censored for criticizing Biden's Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) policies. Another one directly hit by Biden's censorship drive was former Fox News commentator Tucker Carlson. White House Director of Digital Strategy Rob Flaherty privately lobbied social media groups to remove a video of Carlson reporting the link between Johnson & Johnson's vaccine and blood clots. Meanwhile, Facebook worked with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to censor posts related to the COVID "lab leak" theory. The tech giant's employees later met with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to de-platform the "disinformation dozen," which included Democratic presidential bet Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. The committee analysis further showed how CISA censored "malinformation – truthful information that, according to the government, may carry the potential to mislead." Journalist Lee Fang later wrote that the malinformation campaign "highlights not only the broad authority that the federal government has to shape the political content available to the public but also the toolkit that it relies upon to limit scrutiny in the regulation of speech."

Bureaucrats are granted too much power over people

Officials supporting the operation such as Dr. Kate Starbird, a member of CISA's Misinformation & Disinformation subcommittee, remained unrepentant in their aim to advance political agendas. Despite the program explicitly violating the Constitution and eviscerating the First Amendment, CISA officials still appointed themselves the arbiters of truth. They worked with the most powerful information companies in the world to purge dissent. The House report further disclosed how Biden's administration bureaucrats are granted too much power over the people while "protecting" them with anonymity and accountability. Unelected officials, like CISA's employees, bask in the ever-increasing control without having to answer for the consequences of their decisions and actions. Another Misinformation & Disinformation Subcommittee member, Suzanne Spaulding, warned that it was "only a matter of time before someone realizes we exist and starts asking about our work," a statement exposing the authority that CISA holds while lacking public exposure. In fact, many are still surprised to learn that the agency even existed despite its great influence over lockdowns. In March 2020, CISA divided the American workforce into categories of essential and nonessential. Within hours, California became the first state to issue a "stay at home" order, an unimaginable assault on Americans' civil liberties. However, after all the reported and proven adverse effects of lockdowns – depression and suicide in teenagers, lower intellectual levels in students, a weaker immune system in most adults, and many others – CISA remained clean and pristine from all criticisms and blame.
