Mainstream media DISMAYED by poll result showing Trump leading Biden by 9 points in hypothetical head-to-head matchup

The mainstream media couldn't hide its dismay over the result of a recent poll conducted by two of its own. The ABC News and Washington Post (WaPo) surveyed Americans about their views on the current state of the nation. In a hypothetical head-to-head matchup, former President Donald Trump leads incumbent President Joe Biden by nine percentage points. About 51 percent of respondents support Trump, while 42 percent support Biden. (Related: NOTHING NEW HERE: Poll shows 52% of Americans DISAPPROVE of Biden.) NBC political analyst Steve Kornacki and his co-moderator Kristin Welker were clearly disappointed by the result. "You know this from talking to Republican critics of Trump from rival campaigns, everything you just explained they thought would take him down a peg this summer and instead he has only moved up here. You can see the number saying the party needs a new leader has gone down. So for Donald Trump there, [is] nothing but good news," Kornacki commented. But before Kornacki could even finish his thought, Welker blurted out "Oof" to show her apparent disgust over Trump's sustained popularity among Republican voters. ABC News Political Director Rick Klein and Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz shared the same sentiment, ditto with the network's panelists on "The View," including Whoopi Goldberg, Alyssa Farah Griffin, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro. Navarro even accused everyone who participated in the poll of being high on drugs just because she couldn't stand the result. "I don't know what happened with this ABC poll. I don't know if the people asking the questions were high or the people answering the questions were high, but somebody had to have been on edibles or something else because this poll is off the charts," Navarro commented.

ABC/WaPo poll reveals all sorts of troubling statistics for Biden

The result of the ABC poll also highlights the widespread dissatisfaction of Americans with the economy and rising inflation while revealing several troubling statistics for the Biden administration as it gears up for the upcoming re-election campaign. The survey found that only 37 percent of respondents approve of Biden's performance, while 56 percent disapprove. Moreover, his approval rating on the economy has dropped to a meager 30 percent. On immigration issues, Biden's rating is even lower, with a mere 23 percent approval rating. Moreover, the poll found that 44 percent of Americans believe they have become financially worse off during Biden's tenure, marking the highest dissatisfaction level in the ABC/WaPo polls since 1986. The recent poll also highlights that 74 percent of respondents think Biden is too old for a second term, representing a six percentage point increase since May. The same views on Trump's age have also increased, with 50 percent of respondents believing he is too old. Trump, who left office with only a 38 percent approval rating, has seen an improvement in retrospect. Currently, 48 percent of respondents say they approve of Trump's performance when he was in office, matching his peak approval rating as president. Among the 56 percent of respondents who disapprove of Biden's performance, a significant 75 percent say they retrospectively approve of Trump's presidency. These views have implications for early-stage election preferences. A notable 62 percent of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents believe the party should choose someone other than Biden as their nominee in 2024, while Trump enjoys broad intraparty support on the Republican's side, with 54 percent favoring him for the GOP nomination. While Klein acknowledged that this was only a slight shift from the previous poll conducted in May, it was notably different from most recent polls and posed a serious challenge to Biden's reelection ambitions. "These numbers are simply staggering for the sitting president," Klein told Raddatz. Visit Trump.news for more news related to the former president and his campaign.
