Four years ago, the Post boasted 139 million monthly visitors. By the end of last year, it had less than 60 million”Of that audience, less than one in five read more than a single article per month. For the record, just the one million could keep ANP going until Stefan and I drop dead, and still have enough to leave some to our children. Top that off with the fact that in early December 2023, Washington Post Guild went on a mini strike, where 750 members walked out for a day, which almost no readers even noticed. Their demands, considering how often Wapo and other liberal news outlets lie to the American people they are supposed to inform, are outrageous.
The Guild wants a minimum salary of $100,100 for reporters, and management is offering only $73,000. The parties are also separated by annual cost-of-living demands.Wapo is not the only outlet suffering from self-inflicted wounds. COLLAPSE OF THE MSMS.... 2023 was a horrible year for national liberal media outlets, and 2024 is likely to to continue that trend. Some of the key points from a TheWrap article published on MSN: • Broadcast, print and digital outlets collectively saw 2,681 journalism job cuts in 2023, up 48% from 1,808 in 2022 and 77% from 1,511 in 2021. • In Nov.-Dec. alone "Condé Nast, G/O Media, Vice Media and Vox Media have all cut staff, most of whom already had layoffs earlier this year. (Vice filed for bankruptcy in June.)" • A research study in 2022 by Northwestern University's Medill School found that some 2,500 dailies and weeklies have shut down since 2005. The study predicted that a third of American newspapers that existed roughly two decades ago will be out of business by 2025. Of course the handwringing by the likes of some such as Ashanti Blaize-Hopkins, the national president of the Society of Professional Journalists, is nothing short of tone deaf.
"The health of the journalism industry is closely tied to the health of our democracy," Blaize-Hopkins added. "When layoffs happen, the public becomes less informed, which puts our very democracy at risk."Ok, let us all say it, America is Republic, not a Democracy. In my opinion, after having spent years documenting many of the MSM lies, misinformation, selectively edited video, and retractions after the fake news already filtered throughout America, the Republic is better off with less, honest media, than more dishonest media outlets. Media defenders will claim that "mistakes happen," but when every mistake flows in one direction, against one political party, it becomes less a mistake and clear media bias, a lies to get the political result they want.
