Counter-terrorism course for British civil servants is actually woke INDOCTRINATION
A whistleblower has come forward with the revelation that a counter-terrorism course for British civil servants
is actually woke indoctrination in disguise.
Anna Stanley, a former staffer with the British
Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), disclosed this in a piece for
Fathom Journal. The three-day course titled "Issues in Countering Terrorism" was conducted at
King's College London (KCL)
. Aside from her colleagues at the FCDO, staffers from the
Ministry of Justice,
Ministry of Defense and the
Home Department were also in attendance.
"The civil servants were given presentation by KCL lecturers, while visiting senior research fellows and professors also spoke. These included those formerly holding positions such as permanent secretary of the [Home Department], [Government Communications Headquarters] director, defense minister and [FCDO] director," she wrote.
But according to Stanley, "the course was a deeply, existentially depressing experience." She continued: "'Prestigious' educational institutions are delivering politically biased anti-government training amounting to indoctrination. It confirmed my fears that extremism and terrorism are misunderstood by civil servants to the point of being a national security risk."
The whistleblower also noted that the course, which purportedly addresses terrorism, included a call for censorship. It used
Spectator associate editor Douglas Murray and podcaster Joe Rogan as examples of individuals in the "far-right" to suppress and ban.
One lecturer asked attendees: "To what extent should Rogan and Murray be suppressed. They have millions of followers. To de-platform them would cause issues, so society needs to find other ways to suppress them."
"To be honest, I felt that I was the only person in the room who thought that there was something wrong with the teaching, and a lot of things I was privy to there," the former FCDO staffer wrote. "It was very existentially depressing and quite alienating to be in that course, and I felt bad."
Counter-terrorism course looks at terrorism through a WOKE lens
Stanley also recounted that the KCL course "began with the issue of definitions," starting with that of terrorism. The course mentioned the adage that "One man's freedom fighter is another man's terrorist," without anyone providing an opposing standpoint. She received blank looks from the rest of the attendees when she brought up a contrary point.
"The danger of understanding terrorism with cultural relativism is that it breeds moral apathy, the kind that says 'Who are we – mere democratic, liberal Westerners – to impose our morality onto others? Who are we to say our culture is superior to others?' These are luxury attitudes," she wrote.
"It is easy to be sat in KCL and feel that all cultures are equal when you haven't been [sexually assaulted] at a peace festival by someone shouting 'Allahu Akbar' and held hostage."
Moreover, Stanley quoted the course's introduction that labeling an organization as "terrorist" was problematic because it "implies a moral judgment." However, "nothing was said about why a moral judgment might be appropriate."
The ongoing conflict in Israel was also referenced, with government servants being told that Hamas members were "freedom fighters." In contrast, Israel was used as a prime example of a state committing terrorism. "Condemning terrorism is to endorse the power of the strong over the weak," the course said, which justifies the terrorist actions of Hamas – formally the Islamic Resistance Movement.
"Another slide read, 'Terrorism is not the problem; rather, the systems they oppose are terrorist,' reflecting post-modern identity politics wrapped up as counter-terrorism, education," Stanley recounted. "Everything was viewed through the lens of power."
