Attacking police officers is a serious crime in the U.S. – unless you happen to be here illegally, in which case you might be released without bail and given free bus tickets with fake names so you can head to the other side of the country. This is what happened in a recent incident in which a group of illegal migrants from Venezuela were caught on video assaulting a pair of NYPD officers in Times Square near the New Amsterdam Theater. One of the suspects kicked an officer twice in the head, while another one kicked the officer in the back, with several others joining in as the violence escalated. Following multiple kicks aimed at the officers, the suspects ran off. The officers, who remain unidentified, sustained injuries such as bruising and cuts, and were treated at the scene. The men were charged with assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct, obstructing governmental administration and gang assault. One of them already had pending cases in Manhattan for assault and battery, including attacking a loss prevention officer at Macy’s while robbing the store and punching and biting an employee at Nordstrom Rack. Despite the blatant attack, most of them were released without bail. A spokesperson for the New York Office of Court Administration said they were not aware of the men’s whereabouts, although they said they are required to report for court on their scheduled dates. Of course, anyone who expects these people who have no respect for the law to actually show up for their court dates – especially from clear across the country – is completely delusional. In fact, one of the men could be seen in video footage smirking and giving the media a double middle finger when he was released. According to the New York Post, four of the men – 21-year-old Wilson Juarez, 19-year-old Darwin Andres Gomez, 24-year-old Yorman Reveron and 19-year-old Kelvin Servita Arocha – were given free tickets to board a bus from New York to California after supplying fake names to a nonprofit church-affiliated group that helps migrants leave New York City.

New Yorkers are frustrated by migrant influx

Local residents and officials are frustrated with the situation. Staten Island Borough President Vito Fossella said in a statement: "The madness continues. What universe are we living in where migrants, who are living rent-free in our city, are allowed to brutally attack police officers and then are released without consequences? Too often, we continue to protect violent criminals and punish victims.” It is believed the men were headed to Calexico, California, and may intend to head to Mexico from there. Investigators say that they “have no legal authority to chase them or attempt to stop them” since the Manhattan DA did not request bail. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that deporting the men was “something that should be looked at.” She stated: “I mean, if someone commits a crime against a police officer in the state of New York and they’re not here legally, it’s definitely worth checking into.” “These are law enforcement officers who should never under any circumstances be subjected to physical assault,” she added. “It’s wrong on all accounts and I’m looking to judges and prosecutors to do the right thing.” Since spring 2022, more than 170,000 asylum seekers who have crossed into the U.S. via Mexico have made their way to New York City; more than 65,000 of them are still being housed in hotels and city shelters with taxpayers footing the bill. Some of them have been linked to crimes ranging from pickpocketing to rape and murder. Sources for this article include: ZeroHedge.com FoxNews.com NYPost.com
