Putin's new right-hand man wants to nuke the West instantly to win war with Ukraine and NATO

Russian President Vladimir Putin recently re-hired "Professor Doomsday" Sergei Karaganov, his former adviser who thinks their people have "despotic DNA," to ensure the country is "deterring the West" effectively. The 71-year-old political scientist believes that Russia should nuke the West and Europe as this is the best way of saving the world from a full-blown war. Such a move would supposedly test the resolve of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as well as the United States' commitment to its allies. Last year, he said no country would consider responding to a strike because it would leave the world in "radioactive ruins." "The enemy must know that we are ready to deliver a pre-emptive strike in retaliation for all of its current and past acts of aggression to prevent a slide into global thermonuclear war," he wrote in an essay. Karaganov was also a presidential adviser to Putin's predecessor Boris Yeltsin. The presidential adviser has been outspoken with his distaste for the Western world and how they view Russia as an inferior nation. He was also linked to several Russian foreign policies such as the so-called Karaganov doctrine, which states that Moscow should act as the defender of the human rights of ethnic Russians living in the "near abroad" to gain political influence in these regions as well as the Putin Doctrine, where the core element is getting the West to treat Russia as if it were the Soviet Union before 1989, when it competed on a strong footing with the U.S. in international affairs. The professor has also promoted the idea of a "Greater Eurasia" and defended closer ties with China while arguing the era of Western dominance has ended. He has also been a staunch supporter of Putin's invasion of Ukraine from the beginning, having helped formulate a number of the key ideas that led to it in 2022. "Russia is genetically an authoritarian power. Russia's authoritarianism was not imposed from above but is the result of our history which has formed our genetic code," Karaganov stated. Russian authorities said if the West continues to help Ukraine then a "worldwide catastrophe" would happen. The warning came following the commemoration of Victory Day, where the Russian leader presented his nuclear arsenal in a parade as a show of might. Three of his hulking Yars atomic missile launchers thundered over the cobbles in Moscow. The president's ‌plain-clothed aides carried the nuclear briefcase or "football" – an act of showcase of what could be used to kickstart World War III. "Russia will do everything to prevent a global clash. But at the same time, we will not allow anyone to threaten us. Our strategic [nuclear] forces are always in a state of combat readiness," Putin warned during his speech. Karaganov is a founder of Putin's cherished Valdai Club think tank and holds the position of academic supervisor of the Faculty of World Economy and Intenational Affairs at the Higher School of Economics.

Russia to hold drills for the use of tactical nuclear weapons

Several European leaders have announced strong military support for the continued conflict Ukraine and its allies are waging against Russia. In response, Moscow said it will hold drills that will include practice for the use of tactical nuclear weapons in preparation for further escalation of the war. Earlier in May, military exercises were arranged. This will include practice for the preparation and deployment of nonstrategic nuclear weapons intended to "increase the readiness … to fulfill combat tasks" after "provocative statements and threats of certain Western officials," the Ministry of Defense said, adding that missile formations in the Southern Military District and naval forces will take part in the drills, which would take place "soon." Putin even took a test flight in a revamped Tu-160M nuclear-capable strategic bomber earlier this year, which he described as "excellent." Moscow has the world's largest stockpile of such weapons with an estimated 5,580 warheads, which is even more than the United States. China has the third-largest nuclear arsenal, followed by France and the United Kingdom. Head over to RussiaReport.news for more updates on the Russian conflict with Ukraine and the Western allies.
