UK experiences nationwide airport system outage, unleashing travel chaos

A nationwide "technical issue" reportedly shut down all airports in the United Kingdom this week. Reports claim that a "glitch" in UK Border Force electronic systems caused service at airports throughout England to be delayed, creating long lines and lots of angry customers who were stranded for many hours. The alleged glitch also affected other services at the airports including toilet and water access, which were inaccessible at certain times. Many of the eGates screens also turned blank with no flight or other information displayed. The affected airports included Heathrow, Gatwick, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Newcastle and Edinburgh. According to reports, the system network issue was first detected at 7:44 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7. The Home Office issued the following statement on Wednesday about the incident: "E-gates at UK airports came back online shortly after midnight ... at no point was border security compromised and there is no indication of malicious cyber activity." Is AI to blame?

The eGates system is currently installed at some 270 different airports and rail stations across Great Britain. This system normally allows for rapid service using facial recognition for residents of the UK and the European Union (EU). We are told, however, that the Belfast airport does not have eGates, and yet its Border Force systems were down just like the others, begging the question: What the heck happened that day? It turns out that this is not the first time a major and unexpected service shutdown like this has occurred. Last August, an air traffic control "meltdown" resulted in a major glitch occurring in the UK's computerized flight planning system. This incident resulted in 1,500 flights being canceled, and more than 700,000 passengers being impacted, according to the UK Civil Aviation Authority. "I can see another Hollywood script in the making to blame Russia or China," one commenter wrote at RT about how the recent outage is sure to be blamed by the West on one or both of the usual suspects. "The UK ought to be focusing on its endless woes and vulnerabilities at home rather than trying to create trouble abroad," wrote another, referring to the West's continued support for the Zelensky regime in Ukraine, as well as the Netanyahu regime in Israel. "The country is a mess and they've got the audacity to threaten Russia with their missiles," said another. "I'm wondering what London Bridge would look like after a hypersonic made a direct hit? That would present a bit of a glitch for them." Others speculated that perhaps the shutdown is linked to the rapid transition taking place into artificial intelligence (AI), which is increasingly being used instead of humans to run the systems of the world that billions of people rely on for survival.
