House Oversight Committee subpoenas three top Biden aides for concealing president's declining health
United States House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-KY) has issued subpoenas to three top White House aides
for allegedly concealing the extent of President Joe Biden's mental decline.
The subpoenaed aides are White House Senior Advisor and Director of Strategic Outreach Ashley Williams, Advisor to the First Lady Anthony Bernal and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Annie Tomasini. They have been called to testify later this July regarding their roles in handling Biden's classified documents and advising the president on his daily activities. (Related:

Tomasini and Bernal, known to be part of Biden’s inner circle, have faced increased scrutiny since Biden's catastrophic performance in the
CNN presidential debate. Coincidentally, Bernal has been accused of workplace bullying and sexual harassment.
According to the subpoena cover letters, these aides accessed boxes at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, a Washington, D.C. think tank associated with Biden, before classified materials were discovered inside them. Comer has asked the aides to respond to the subpoenas by July 17.
"The
White House has shielded three key aides from testifying about President Biden's mishandling of classified documents and now we've learned through reporting these same aides are also seeking to cover up President Biden's declining cognitive state inside the White House," Comer said. "President Biden is clearly unfit for office, yet his staff are trying to hide the truth from the American people. Key White House staff must come before our committee so we can provide the transparency and accountability that Americans deserve."
Comer vows to subpoena White House physician O'Connor
Comer also vowed to subpoena White House physician Kevin O'Connor, a close friend to the Biden family, if he does not voluntarily cooperate with Congress to release the information on any medical visits Biden has attended outside the presidential mansion.
The stern ultimatum, announced on July 9, followed the disclosure of White House visitor logs showing that a neurologist specializing in Parkinson's disease visited the presidential mansion eight times over the past eight months, including consultations with O'Connor. The White House claimed that these visits were part of Biden's annual physical checkup and assured the public that the president does not have Parkinson's disease.
However, this revelation, along with Biden's catastrophic debate performance on June 27, has fueled speculation among Democrats and the media about the real status of his health. Concerns are mounting that Biden may be more frail and ill than previously acknowledged by the White House.
"That is a huge interest to the committee," Comer said. "We want to know. And that's part of what we're going to ask Dr. O'Connor in a transcribed interview or deposition. It's his choice. He can come in voluntarily and do a transcribed interview or he can be subpoenaed and do a deposition. It's up to him."
"We know about this Parkinson's expert going into the White House because the White House has logs. But we don't know if this person if this doctor was visiting Camp David, we don't know if this doctor was visiting Joe Biden's home in Delaware, places where he spent a significant percentage of his time as president, probably a majority of his time as president," continued Comer. "So this begs a whole different question that I've been saying for a long time. There should be transparency so you know who the President meets with. We should have logs for Camp David and a president's home, in addition to the White House."
