Trump describes Biden as an "incompetent man who should never have been president"

Former President Donald Trump openly slammed President Joe Biden as incompetent on the same day the latter announced his withdrawal from the presidential race. The real estate mogul took to Truth Social on July 21 to denounce Biden for lying about having a Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. The infection prompted the 81-year-old incumbent to cancel a supposed appearance in Las Vegas. Trump's post also came hours after Biden announced his withdrawal on the same day. "Biden never had COVID-19. He is a threat to democracy. Does anybody really believe that Crooked Joe had COVID-19? He wanted to get out ever since June 27, the night of the [CNN presidential] debate, where he was completely obliterated," Trump wrote. "That was the big moment in Biden's demise. That was the point in time when Joe was revealed for what he is, an incompetent man who should never have been president." According to Trump, Biden only won the 2020 presidential election because of "lies" and "fake news." He continued: "All those around him, including his doctor and the media, knew that he wasn't capable of being president – and he wasn't." "And now, look what he's done to our country – with millions of people coming across our border, totally unchecked and unvetted; many from prisons [and] mental institutions; and record numbers of terrorists. We will suffer greatly because of his presidency, but we will remedy the damage he has done very quickly. Make America Great Again." Trump continued his rants the following day. "He loses the [presidential] debate badly, then panics and makes mistake after mistake, [then] is told he can't win. And [then the Democrats] decide they will pick another candidate, probably [Vice President Kamala] Harris," the real estate mogul posted on Truth Social. "They stole the race from Biden after he won it in the primaries – a first. These people are the real threat to democracy."

Biden says "bye-bye" to the prospect of a second term

Biden confirmed his withdrawal from the presidential race through a statement posted on X on the afternoon of July 21. He explained that he would end his campaign "for the good of the Democratic Party," according to The Sun. "Over the past three and a half years, we have made great progress as a nation. It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president," Biden said. "And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best of my party and the country for me to stand down and focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president for the remainder of my term." He also thanked Harris "for being an extraordinary partner in all this work." As expected, Biden later gave his endorsement to the vice president as the Democratic presidential nominee. "My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as president for the remainder of my term. My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Harris as my vice president, and it's been the best decision I've made. I want to offer my full support and endorsement for [her] to be the nominee of our party this year," the president said in a separate statement. But Trump laughed off the prospect of Harris being the Democratic presidential nominee for the November election. "She'll be easier to defeat," he told CNN.
