Pro-Palestine Abandon Biden movement now committed to ensuring Kamala Harris loses in November

The Abandon Biden movement, which opposes Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, has put Vice President Kamala Harris in its crosshairs. Breitbart News reported that the movement had kicked off its Abandon Harris campaign by means of an Aug. 23 press release. According to the statement, the campaign is devoted to ensuring the Democratic presidential nominee loses in the November elections. While the group's name remains registered as Abandon Biden, its new endeavor "is now laser-focused on exposing and opposing Harris and her complicity in genocide." It also urged "all people of conscience to join us in holding the Democratic Party accountable for the bloodshed in Gaza." "The [Democratic National Committee's] recent actions have only confirmed what we've been saying all along. The Democratic Party has no interest in ending the genocide in Gaza. They are not mere bystanders. They are active participants in this brutal, unforgivable violence," the movement's statement continued. "For 11 months, we've woken up the nightmare of Palestinians being torn apart by U.S.-funded and supplied weapons, with the full backing of the Biden-Harris administration. The statement pointed out that "appealing to the conscience of the Democratic Party is a waste of time" as it has "no conscience" and "no moral compass." Thus, it stressed that "there is only one path forward" – abandoning "the party of genocide and ethnic cleansing" and standing up for "dignity, integrity and humanity." "Our commitment is to ensure that Harris loses the 2024 election and to make it clear that anyone who runs on a platform of genocide will be condemned to failure," concluded the press release.

Even Harris is complicit in Gaza genocide

According to ABC 7 Detroit, the Abandon Biden movement started back in October after Israel retaliated against Hamas with a military strike, following the latter's Oct. 7 Al-Aqsa Flood attack. At the time, the members of the movement demanded President Joe Biden call for a ceasefire to stop the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip. Now, the group is committed to abandoning Harris in November in the same way. "We believe Harris is complicit in everything that has been going on," said the movement's spokesman Hudhayfah Ahmad. "I'm pretty sure that there is going to be a lot of emotion today and it’s just strange that there's all these voices crying out for a very specific issue and instead of listening and following through, the campaign has just decided, 'Let's barricade the convention.'" The Aug. 23 press release followed a week of intense and frequent protests at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, which happened from Aug. 19 to 22. Independent presidential candidate Dr. Cornel West joined other protesters outside the convention's security perimeter, holding up signs that read "Abandon Harris." "It's for the country and the world. But in my interpretation, it means those of us who have a deep love of precious Palestinian people in solidarity with their struggle against vicious genocide and ethnic cleansing and apartheid-like conditions," West told Breitbart News. Ahmad attested to the outlet's report, noting that he has seen a heavy police presence in the convention area with officers traveling in groups. "Our hopes are very low in the Democratic Party. We don't believe the Democratic Party is taking this seriously and I genuinely believe that they think they can ignore this completely and still win due to the new energy that surrounds [the Harris-Walz campaign]," the Abandon Biden spokesman said. "And so we don't hope to get anything out of the Democratic Party. But we're hoping more people are able to open their eyes, open their ears [and] open their hearts towards the reality that exists today – which is that this administration isn't anything new.
