Zuckerberg admits to censoring Americans, Hunter Biden laptop story under Biden-Harris "pressure"

On Aug. 26, 2024, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg wrote a letter to Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) of the House Committee on the Judiciary telling him that the regime of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris "pressured" Facebook to censor Americans, which Facebook did. Facebook remains under the microscope as part of a lengthy investigation into the social media platform's content moderation policies. So far, Facebook has produced thousands of documents in accordance with the investigation. With hundreds of millions of users hailing from many different countries around the world, Facebook regularly receives requests from governments and others expressing concerns about the information being spread. The Biden regime was especially concerned all throughout the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) "pandemic" about what people were sharing about lockdowns, face masks and "vaccines." In 2021 at the height of COVID, the Biden regime, and specifically the White House, "repeatedly pressured" Facebook staff to censor content about the "pandemic," "including humor and satire," Zuckerberg says. And whenever Facebook disagreed, Biden and his people "expressed a lot of frustration." "Ultimately, it was our decision whether or not to take content down, and we own our own decisions, including COVID-19-related changes we made to our enforcement in the wake of this pressure," Zuckerberg wrote in the letter. "I believe the government pressure was wrong, and I regret that we were not more outspoken about it. I also think we made some choices that, with the benefit of hindsight and new information, we wouldn't make today." "Like I said to our teams at the time, I feel strongly that we should not compromise our content standards due to pressure from any Administration in either direction – and we're ready to push back if something like this happens again." (Related: Remember when Facebook blocked a censorship report that names the company 31 separate times from being shared by users on its platform?)

Convenient excuses

Concerning the Hunter Biden laptop scandal, Zuckerberg says the Biden regime, and specifically the FBI, contacted Facebook about "a potential Russian disinformation operation" that was allegedly behind the effort to expose the Biden Crime Family for corruption with Burisma and Ukraine leading up to the 2020 election. After the New York Post published its famous exposé on Hunter's illicit activities with Burisma and Ukraine, Facebook sent it off to "fact-checkers" for review. During the time it was being reviewed, the exposé was blocked from being shared on Facebook. Facebook has since learned that the report "was not Russian disinformation." And just like with his COVID censorship scheme, Zuckerberg says he now regrets "in retrospect" agreeing to "demote the story." "We've changed our policies and processes to make sure this doesn't happen again – for instance, we no longer temporarily demote things in the U.S. while waiting for fact-checkers." This is all a convenient excuse from Zuckerberg that he and his team were simply misled or mistaken when they decided to keep Americans in the dark about COVID and the Hunter Biden laptop story, two topics that had Zuckerberg maintained free speech might have changed the direction of the United States in a major way. To further try to persuade the House committee to let him off the hook for his election meddling, Zuckerberg noted at the end of his letter that he made "contributions" during the last presidential cycle "to support electoral infrastructure." "The idea here was to make sure local election jurisdictions across the country had the resources they needed to help people vote safely during a global pandemic," Zuckerberg wrote. "I made these contributions through the Chan Zuckerberg initiative." If Americans let them, the government and social media giants will continue to throttle the truth online.
