Zelensky outlines his "victory plan" against Russia – using American and British long-range missiles
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed his so-called "victory plan" against Russia,
which ostensibly requires the use of long-range missiles provided by the United Kingdom and the United States.
He expounded on this victory plan during a Sept. 20 press briefing that coincided with a visit by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. This plan reportedly involves the U.S. and the U.K. authorizing Ukraine to launch long-range missile strikes inside Russian territory. According to
YourNews, Zelensky's plan stresses "the critical role" of Washington and London in giving the go signal for such strikes.
During the briefing, Zelensky disclosed that he plans to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden on Sept. 26 to present this victory plan. He stressed the significance of Washington's support and appealed directly to the Democratic incumbent. According to the Ukrainian leader, his American counterpart could "earn a place in history" by backing Kyiv's strategy.
"All the details I will discuss, first of all, with the president of the United States. Most of the decisions from the plan depend specifically on him. [I'll discuss the plan with] other allies too, but there are certain points which depend on the goodwill and support of the United States. I hope [Biden] supports the plan," Zelensky said.
"Biden can strengthen Ukraine and make important decisions for Ukraine to become stronger and to protect its independence while he is U.S. president. I think it is a historical mission."
In a separate statement on social media posted Sept. 20, Zelensky said he and his team are preparing for negotiations with two major presidential candidates in the U.S. – the Republican Party's Donald Trump and the Democratic Party's Kamala Harris. He also expressed plans to meet both candidates, who are set to face each other in the U.S. presidential elections in November.
"We are ready to present a concrete plan not just for Ukraine to endure, not just to maintain our resistance at the current level, but to strengthen ourselves right now. To strengthen in such a way that brings a just peace closer, that brings victory closer," the Ukrainian leader said in his post.
Russia warns Ukraine's "victory plan" will only trigger WWIII
"Despite Zelensky's insistence, both the U.S. and the U.K. have refrained from allowing
the use of their missile systems for long-range strikes within Russian borders, limiting their support to strikes near border regions,"
YourNews continued.
"Moscow, meanwhile, has repeatedly warned of dire consequences should Western-backed long-range missile strikes into Russia be authorized. The Ukrainian leadership's proposal and Russia's stark warnings illustrate the growing risks in a conflict that has already significantly impacted global security dynamics."
Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, issued such a warning on the same day as Zelensky's press conference in Kyiv. She reiterated that the West's continued military support for Ukraine could escalate tensions further, potentially triggering a nuclear conflict. Ceasing arms shipments to Kyiv would be the only credible step to resolve the war peacefully, she added, and continuing such shipments would merely escalate the already volatile situation.
"As soon as [the West stops] supplying arms … and sponsoring the terrorist activities of [the Kyiv regime], then it can be perceived as a signal for political and diplomatic settlement," Zakharova said. (Related:

"Everything else is either strengthening of anti-Russian ties with the West or an attempt to attract other members of the international community to their reckless schemes or elements of the current White House's electoral program, so to speak, or maneuvering. In fact, this has nothing to do with peace."
Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of Russia's State Duma (lower house of the Russian legislature) and a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, also issued a similar admonition. He warned Western governments that a nuclear war would surely break out if they permitted Kyiv to use long-range weapons to strike targets inside Russia.
