Podcaster and political commentator Joe Rogan has warned billionaire Elon Musk and other tech leaders that online censorship will intensify if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the election. In a recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience," Rogan brought up a 2019 statement by Harris during an address in front of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). At the time, Harris was the junior senator for California and running for the Democratic Party's nomination for president in the 2020 election. In her address, Harris vowed to hold social media platforms accountable for not fighting against misinformation and hate. "We will hold social media platforms accountable for the hate infiltrating their platforms because they have a responsibility to help fight against this threat to our democracy," Harris said. Moreover, Rogan cited a 2022 appearance of her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, on MSNBC's "The Reid Out," wherein the Democratic vice-presidential candidate claimed that the First Amendment does not apply to misinformation or hate speech. "I think we need to push back on this. There's no guarantee to free speech on misinformation or hate speech, and especially around our democracy," Walz said at the time. During his podcast, Rogan argued that the core purpose of free speech is to allow different viewpoints, even if some may be incorrect so that others can challenge and correct them. "There's so many wild things that they're saying. Tim Walz said that the First Amendment doesn't apply to misinformation or hate speech. Okay, well it certainly does. It does. People will say things wrong. The goal of the First Amendment is 'You say something wrong and this guy who is the expert says the right thing,' and then you correct them," he said. Rogan warned that platforms such as X and Rumble could be at risk if the Harris-Walz ticket wins the upcoming election. "I don't think it [censorship] turns around if Kamala Harris gets into office," Rogan said. "I think they clamp down more. I think the same stuff they were trying to do with Twitter they'll try to do with other things. They've already openly discussed it. She's openly discussed the same rules have to apply to Facebook [and] have to apply to Twitter. And that Elon Musk could lose his privileges." (Related: Kamala Harris calls for X to be SHUT DOWN in interview.)

Musk agrees with Rogan's claims about the Harris-Walz ticket

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has agreed with Rogan's claims. On Sept. 28, Musk reposted a tweet from X user named "KanekoaTheGreat," who posted a clip from the recent episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" where Rogan made his claims. In the repost, Musk added his own comment in support of Rogan, stating: "Joe Rogan is absolutely right." These claims from Rogan and Musk have been supported by a recent interview of Harris with journalist Jake Tapper, wherein Harris stated that Musk "has lost his privileges" and the social media platform he owns "should be taken down" due to its unchecked influence and the lack of regulatory oversight. In turn, she stressed that there should be stricter control over social media platforms. The video immediately went viral online when famous personalities, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr., shared it. However, the Harris presidential campaign team denied the accusations. Follow KamalaHarris.news for more stories about the presidential campaign of Kamala Harris.
