Another prominent member of and advocate for the LGBT community in Canada has been charged with multiple grievous sexual offenses involving a minor. Bethany Jean Toombs, a 41-year-old LGBT activist in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, is a former school counselor who used to aid in wellness programs for Grade 9 students in her school. Her contributions to classroom materials focused on sensitive topics such as sexual violence and consent, particularly in the context of gender norms and expectations. One of the model lesson plans, which bears her name as a contributor, highlights "developing a deeper understanding of sexual violence and the importance of consent." Aside from her activism, Toombs has made several media appearances, including on Canada's state-funded Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, wherein she was invited to speak as an expert on parenting children with anxiety. She also reportedly led a Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) club at her school, which in turn gave her close access to youth and the ability to engage them in discussions on sensitive subjects. Some of Toombs' former students also mentioned on Reddit that her involvement with the GSA and her role as a school counselor provided her opportunities to interact with minors. In line with this, the Major Crimes Unit of Prince Edward Island's detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police investigated Toombs in September and subsequently charged her with multiple grievous sexual offenses against a 16-year-old, including sexual assault, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. Toombs was also charged with allowing a minor under 19 to consume cannabis in violation of the Cannabis Control Act. Toombs, scheduled to appear in provincial court on Oct. 28, was arrested on Sept. 24 in Queens County, but was later released under strict conditions after appearing before a justice of the peace.

Pedophiles are disguising as LGBTQ activists to prey on unsuspecting victims

The arrest of Toombs in Queens County adds to a concerning pattern of pedophiles disguising themselves as LGBT activists to target unsuspecting victims. In April, Sean Pinion, a 31-year-old LGBT activist and former president of the Pikes Peak Arts Council in Colorado Springs, was arrested and placed in the El Paso County jail on a $20,000 bond on charges of alleged child sexual exploitation. In February, 39-year-old Sean Gravells, a former president of the North Peace Pride Society (NPPS), an LGBT pride organization in northern British Columbia, Canada, was also arrested on multiple charges of sex crimes against children. These charges include touching a person under 16 for sexual purposes, sexual interference with a person under 16, possession of child pornography, and importing and distributing child pornography. In January, Gerad Slayton, a former executive director of the Rainbow Resource Center, was one of over a dozen men arrested in a sting operation targeting online predators attempting to solicit sex with minors. These incidents are proving that the end goal of the LBGT movement is not the acceptance of diverse views but rather the grooming of the next generation.
