Public school in NYC slammed for GENDER IDENTITY course targeting kindergarten students

A public school in a New York City (NYC) suburb has come under fire for its "gender identity" course designed for kindergarten students. Breitbart News reported that the Hillside Elementary School, which is under the Hastings-on-Hudson Union Free School District (HOHUFSD), was responsible for the course. The school's "gender curriculum" course seeks to promote "inclusion" among kindergarten students. It also teaches them terms including cisgender, transgender and nonbinary. A copy of the course made the rounds on social media, with Fox News managing to acquire a copy of it. The kindergarten-level course description read: "Our gender curriculum focuses on Hillside's core value of respect and aims to center discussions on gender identity. The students will learn and discuss that there is a lot you can't tell about a person by simply looking at them." "The 'identity' being taught to children includes discussing 'gender and the pronouns that you use,' and that 'as we learn and grow, the words we use to describe our gender identity can grow too,'" the outlet continued. In response to a comment on the curriculum, the HOHUFSD's communication team told Fox News that the lessons have been in place for several years. The lessons were also rooted in the elementary school's "core values of respect and fostering dignity for all students." HOHUFSD Superintendent William McKersie wrote in a message to faculty and parents that the gender identity lessons "have been created in alignment with the [New York State] Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework." He continued: "One 30-minute gender lesson is taught in each class one time per year. The classes are led by a certified educator, following a specific set of lessons designed to help students value the full diversity of their classmates." The school noted that the lessons do not address sex education or sexuality. While the courses are posted online on the school's website for the public to see, the lesson description for the gender identity course has been removed since it went viral.

Incensed users call out Hillside Elementary School for GROOMING kids

Several users took to social media to call out the New York elementary school over the gender identity lesson. Foremost among them was the Libs of TikTok account on X, who shared a copy of the course description. "Public schools are trying to groom your children," the wrote on Friday, Nov. 22. NYC Councilwoman Vickie Paladino, a Republican, also reposted the course description on social media. "Our kids can't read, write or even possess a basic understanding of history, yet the gender communism indoctrination of kindergartners continues unabated. This won't stop until these people face real consequences," she wrote. "This is not education, this is indoctrination. The [Department of Education] can't be shut down soon enough," one user wrote. Another user remarked: "I miss when we [didn't] know anything about a teacher's sexuality and kids were taught reading, writing, math, science and civics." A third user meanwhile wrote: "If my kindergartner came home talking about transgenders, that school would hear from me. No [five-year-old] needs to know about this." Kemberlee Kaye, managing editor of the Critical Race Training in Education (CRTIE) database, called on others to "get your kids out of government schools." CRTIE allows viewers to see which schools in their state teach critical race theory to children.
