- Health Ranger Mike Adams warns of toxic "satanic molecules" (excitotoxins) in processed foods, agricultural products and personal care items, citing their harmful effects on health.
- Adams highlights how many toxic food ingredients allowed in the U.S. are banned in other countries, criticizing the FDA for lax regulation.
- Shadow foods, heavily processed and lacking natural nutrition, use artificial colors and flavor enhancers (like MSG) to mimic freshness and nutrition, hiding their toxicity.
- Adams identifies MSG as a key excitotoxin, causing brain overexcitement and potential harm, even in its hidden forms like yeast extract and torula yeast.
- The food industry disguises toxic chemicals, including MSG, in products labeled "MSG-free," leading consumers to unknowingly consume harmful ingredients.
The Health Ranger Mike Adams warned of
the dangers of excitotoxins found in shadow food during one of his sermons for the
Church of Natural Abundance.
Basing his sermon on
the Letter of St. Paul to the Ephesians, the Bible nutrition educator said satanic molecules are being introduced into the food supply, agricultural produce and personal care products. People should avoid these satanic molecules because they are toxic.
"There are hundreds of food ingredients that are legally allowed to be used in foods in the U.S. even though those same ingredients are illegal and banned in other countries, especially in Europe, he said. Adams also blasted the
Food and Drug Administration for being lax and allowing extremely
toxic ingredients to persist in the food supply.
According to the Health Ranger, shadow foods are heavily processed foods that lack the normal color, taste and nutrition of God's foods. The processed food industry is adding artificial colors as well as artificial flavor enhancers to make foods look fresh and nutritious. These taste enhancers are toxic molecules used in shadow food, with the food industry hiding this ingredient so that people won't notice.
The industry is using a lot of salt and sugar in order to make the foods taste more delicious. Because of this, Adams said the palate of most Americans today has been overloaded with salt and sugar that they can barely taste the subtle nuances of real food. Thus, it is critical to get out of processed foods so that a person's sensory acuity is enhanced, and they can enjoy eating more real foods.
MSG a classic example of an excitotoxin in shadow food
Adams cited monosodium glutamate (MSG) as one example of an excitotoxin in shadow food.
The ingredient was first identified in 1908 by Japanese chemist Kikunae Ikeda. The Bible nutrition educator noted that more than a century after it was identified, MSG and various forms of it are hidden in the food supply.
MSG can cause a rapid increase of blood flow to the brain and extreme headaches in some people who consume it. Although most people are not ultrasensitive to MSG it may still be causing damage to the brain. This is because it is an excitotoxin that overexcites the taste sensors in the tongue and the neurons of the brain. (Related:

Many mainstream food manufacturers put MSG into their regular products that they claim to be MSG free using yeast extract, which is another form of MSG. The shadow food industry also other forms of ingredients containing high levels of glutamate, and one of them is yeast extract which is put into foods as taste enhancers. Torula yeast, which is in many natural products, is another form of MSG.
A fast food company that makes a lot of fried chicken and sells fried chicken in buckets is using MSG in all their menu, including the chicken batter that they use to fry the chicken. Gravy mixes are very high in MSG, along with the various seasoning and spice mixes as well as salad dressing.
Adams ultimately concluded his sermon by saying that one of the greatest tricks in the shadow food industry is convincing people they are not eating toxic chemicals that might damage their brain.
