According to the WHO, "there are no religious scripts prescribe the practice" but "practitioners often believe the practice has religious support." The organization also states, "FGM has no health benefits, and it harms girls and women in many ways. It involves removing and damaging healthy and normal female genital tissue, and interferes with the natural functions of girls' and women's bodies." Many Twitter users were outraged to see such an advertisement in their feeds, with some noting that the promotion violating human rights should be against the company's community standards. Twitter is now saying that the ad's approval was an accident. After massive backlash for the post's promotion, a Twitter spokesperson stated the ad “was approved in error and the decision was immediately overturned by our teams.” As Breitbart notes, however, the post is still up on DBWRF's Twitter feed. Further, the group's feed features multiple posts intended to promote and normalize the practice of FGM. Given Twitter's penchant for blacklisting conservatives, especially those who promote the pro-life message, this is highly hypocritical. The promotion of FGM is just as harmful to women as the procedure itself. Under the "politically correct" liberal dogma, daring to speak against the promotion of FGM is basically racist -- but under the same deranged leftist views, a Christian woman who promotes pro-life messages is a threat to women's rights. Once again, the Left echoes George Orwell's 1984: Torture and mutilation is healthy, slavery is freedom and propaganda is truth. The fact that the DBWRF page still stands, while conservatives like Elizabeth Heng have been censored for criticizing oppressive regimes, is proof of the fact that Big Tech's arbitrary community standards are only enforced when they see fit -- or rather, when it fits their agenda.
