Just as pandemic restrictions were starting to ease across the country, some areas have started to re-introduce mask mandates.  Philadelphia was the first major city to do so last week. (Article by Adam Wilson republished from 100PercentFedUp.com) Now, Democrats in the state of Rhode Island want to impose a monthly fine of $50 for parents of unvaccinated children and double their state income taxes. The bill was introduced by State Senator Sam Bell, who even gets flak from his Democratic colleagues in the state legislature for being radical and divisive. Bell justified the bill by saying that there is support for vaccine mandates in the state, despite the fact that it’s a clear violation of civil liberties for the unvaccinated. “Rhode Island Democrats want to punish the parents of children who refused to submit to the COVID vaccine mandates. If passed, the bill will financially cripple individuals by doubling their personal income tax and requiring them to pay a monthly fine of $50. State Senator Samuel Bell is the lead legislator backing the bill, which mandates all Rhode Island residents, workers, and taxpayers receive a COVID-19 vaccine as well as any subsequent boosters that the state’s director of the department of health shall require. The bill’s text can be read here. The law will apply to every person “of at least 16 years of age” as well as every person “under 16 years of age” and over 10 years of age. In order to receive an exemption for a minor, an extremely strict requirement has been drafted into the bill. Parents will need to have three different doctors state on record that the child is “not fit for immunization” and the child themselves will have to place their signature on the form.” Bell has taken to Twitter to complain that he is receiving hate messages after introducing a bill that would persecute unvaccinated people. Last July, Axios found that the vast majority of unvaccinated people are low income, with more than half having a household income of under $50,000 a year.  Bell claims to be a progressive but wants to financially punish low income people for not getting the vaccine.
