Illinois voters file petitions to remove Biden from 2024 presidential ballot

As liberals in several states do their best to try to keep former President Donald Trump’s name off their presidential ballots, voters in Illinois have filed lawsuits attempting to block President Joe Biden’s name from appearing on the state ballot in the upcoming election. The State Journal-Register reported on three objections that have been filed with the state’s board of elections, whose deadline for such suits recently passed. The suits allege that Biden has “given aid or comfort to the enemies” during his presidency, as well as his time as vice president and senator, thereby rendering him ineligible to run. In the filing, the group identified Iran and China as being among the parties to have benefited from Biden’s actions. It states: "Biden has given aid and comfort to enemies of the Constitution and the United States by, among other things, failing to enforce the laws of the United States, allowing entry of enemy agents illegally into the country including tens of thousands of military age men, and abandoning assets of the United States to the possession of our enemies." One of the suits was filed by the Illinois Chapter President of Parents Involved in Education, Terry Newsome, along with Peggy Hubbard, Timothy Conrad and Shane Bouvet. Newsome explained to the media why he feels Biden is giving “aid and comfort to enemies,” as the suit alleges: "He left $75 billion of military equipment and weaponry in Afghanistan for the Taliban, who is our enemy. My niece's husband is back in Iraq. What are they doing in Iraq? They're using some of the weapons Biden left behind. So our weapons are being used against our own men and women because of Joe Biden,” he noted. According to the suit, Biden has taken an oath to support the U.S. Constitution on nine occasions as senator and vice president, and providing aid to the country’s enemies mean he can’t hold any type of office under the 14th amendment. The suit also lists 64 actions that the Biden administration has taken that undermine the nation’s border security and encourage illegal immigration. Newsome added that the suit exposes the left’s hypocrisy. "We are using the 14th against Biden, this is the exact same thing [they are doing to former President Donald Trump in Colorado] and it's showing the hypocrisy of the left. Everyone on Twitter is already saying this is a frivolous lawsuit. This is going to be turned around by the Supreme Court,” he said, adding that they have the same rights as the left to hold Biden accountable for his actions.

Another objection claims Biden's candidacy was improperly notarized

In a different objection, Illinois voter and board member of LaSalle County District 4 Beth Findley Smith sought to remove Biden from the ballot based on the notarization of his statement of candidacy. She claims that because it was notarized by a notary in the District of Columbia instead of an Illinois official, which is a requirement under state law, he is ineligible. There is precedent for this type of case. A 2003 Illinois appellate court ruled that a candidate must be removed from the ballot because their statement of candidacy was notarized by a notary in Missouri rather than Illinois. In a statement issued to the Illinois Review, she noted: “In the heartland of democracy, every detail matters. My objection to Joseph R. Biden, Jr.’s candidacy in the Illinois primary election is rooted in a commitment to the integrity of our electoral process.” A special meeting to address these objections will be held today. Board certification is scheduled for the end of this month, and the Illinois primary will be held on March 19.
