Abbott proceeded to call on the Texas National Guard to install more razor wire in defiance of the Supreme Court order. Invoking the Founding Fathers, Abbott said that Biden's refusal to protect America's southern border leaves Texas with no other choice but to do it itself. "The federal government has broken the compact between the United States and the States," Abbott wrote in a letter addressing the standoff between his state and the feds in Eagle Pass. "The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now. President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them. The result is that he has smashed records for illegal immigration."The Texas National Guard continues to hold the line in Eagle Pass.

Article II, Section 2 of the Constitution only allows the president to invoke the use of the National Guard if it becomes federalized, which can only occur with the governor's permission. Biden could potentially get around this by invoking the Insurrection Act, some legal experts say. The latest news about the escalating crisis on the southern border can be found at InvasionUSA.news.
