Students at Texas university denounce PRO-ABORTION statue as symbol of EVIL

Students at a university in Texas have openly denounced the presence of a pro-abortion statue that promotes satanic and evil imagery. The statue was erected at the University of Houston (UH) in the Lone Star State. Titled "Witness," the work by Pakistani-American artist Shahzia Sikander reportedly served as a response to the paring back of "reproductive rights" in the U.S. – as exemplified by the overturn of the 1973 Roe v. Wade abortion ruling in 2022. "Witness" features a female figure who levitates above the ground, its arms and legs dissolving into root-like forms. It floats within the armature of a hoop skirt that contains mosaics depicting plants. The figure also wears a lacy collar, referencing those worn by the late U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg – a staunch defender of infanticide. Most noticeable is the statue's braided hair, which curls to form ram-like horns – which echo the horns found on depictions of Baphomet, a recognizable satanic icon. Its hoop skirt reportedly echoes the domed shape of the Empire State's courthouse, while a mosaic on the hoop skirt spells out the inscription "havah" that translates to Eve – the first woman. This was not the first instance Sikander, 53, created a statue in this manner. Back in January 2023, the Catholic News Agency (CNA) reported that this work had been previously displayed at Madison Square Park in New York City (NYC). Its partner statue titled "Now" was displayed atop the NYC Courthouse. The "Now" statue had the same feature as the "Witness" statue, sans the hoop skirt. Sikander described her work as a "fierce woman" and a "form of resistance." However, Republican NYC Councilwoman Vickie Paladino called the statue a "satanic golden medusa." "The two statues will remain in New York until June, when they will be placed on exhibit in Houston," CNA said at the time. This eventually came to pass, with "Witness" being prominently displayed on the UH campus. UH student says statue reminds her of the evil of infanticide

One anonymous UH student decried the "Witness" statue as a symbol of "evil" during a Feb. 28 gathering against it. The student, who had undergone abortion, said it served as a reminder of the "intense trauma" that has "overpowered" her daily life. "I am so disappointed that the institution that is helping me recover is allowing the same evil that caused this to plague our school atmosphere," she said. "When I see this statue, I don't see empowerment and freedom. This statue is a physical representation of evil lies and negative energies that doesn't belong on this once-amazing campus." "Just as my abortion only allowed dark and evil challenges into my life, this statue will bring the same horrendous ideologies and ideas to our campus and its amazing students. Evil is contagious and seeps through the tiniest cracks we create. Our campus and students deserve something better than a statue that opens a door and approves of ungodly actions." The Feb. 28 protest was organized in part by Tradition Family Property (TFP) Student Action, according to LifeSiteNews. Twenty-year-old Catholic protester Sean Cutler openly denounced the statue as an "insult" to his faith. "It's horrifying to look at," he said. We want it out of sight. We don't want to be around it." Texas Right To Life, one of the groups that joined the Feb. 28 protest against the statue, remarked that "a statue honoring child sacrifice has no place in Texas." It continued: "Disobedience to God certainly should not be esteemed by society, much less lauded with a statue." Visit Abortions.news for more stories like this.
