Sen. Johnson: FBI CAN'T BE TRUSTED on Trump assassination probe
By ramontomeydw // 2024-08-06

U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has warned that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) cannot be trusted when it comes to the probe on the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. "What am I missing? You know, I do not trust the FBI [to] do this investigation, honestly," he said during an appearance on Fox News. The senator pertained to testimony given by FBI Deputy Director Paul Abbate on July 30. According to Abbate, the bureau has discovered past comments by Trump's would be assassin Thomas Matthew Crooks on social media that reflected "anti-immigration" sentiments. "Some of these comments, if ultimately attributable to the shooter, appear to reflect anti-Semitic and anti-immigration themes to espouse political violence and are described as extreme in nature," said the FBI deputy director. "I caught that contradiction as well," remarked Johnson, who chairs the Senate committee in charge of probing the Trump assassination attempt. "I thought I heard him say, initially, anti-immigrant, and then you said another one was pro-immigrant." "That's the reason I asked the question at the very end of my questioning. They say they're investigating this as an assassination attempt and also as domestic terrorism. It was obviously an assassination attempt. Why are you classifying [it] as domestic terrorism?" According to Johnson, he is concerned over the Biden administration accusing "half of America being potential domestic terrorists." He pointed to Abbate's testimony about Crooks' posts being anti-immigrant, which points to the FBI "trying to paint this as a MAGA [Make America Great Again] Republican trying to take out … the MAGA president." "It makes no sense whatsoever, but that's why you can't trust the FBI," the senator for the Badger State ultimately concluded. Johnson had earlier slammed both the FBI and the Secret Service, noting that the American people to "rely on other sources" to find out what actually happened.

Torba: FBI claims INCONSISTENT with Crooks' alleged posts

According to Modernity News, Johnson has floated the idea that Crooks wasn't the only shooter during Trump's July 13 campaign rally at Butler, Pennsylvania. He has also exposed the lapses of the Secret Service during the rally. The senator found that the Secret Service didn't attend a security briefing on the morning of the rally, which local SWAT and sniper teams attended. Moreover, he disclosed that there was a lack of communication between the Secret Service and local law enforcement officers. Meanwhile, Gab founder Andrew Torba said the FBI's claim of Crooks' posts being "anti-immigrant" is inconsistent with what he saw on the platform. In contrast, posts from the 20-year-old shooter's account appeared to be pro-immigration. "The story is this: The account [owned by Crooks] … was, unequivocally, pro-Biden and in particular pro-Biden's immigration policy," he wrote on X. "To the best of Gab's knowledge, as of 2021, Crooks was a pro-lockdown, pro-immigration, left-wing Joe Biden supporter." Torba also noted that Gab's disclosure of the content in Crooks' account was in line with an emergency disclosure request sent by the FBI. To back up his claim, the founder of the alternative social media platform posted the first page of the said request with the pertinent information redacted. "Many, particularly regime media reporters, have doubted Gab's claims that this request existed. Normally we don't confirm the existence or content of law enforcement communications. In this instance we had to make an exception due to the overwhelming public interest in disclosure and transparency." Head over to FBICorruption.news for more stories about the FBI. Watch Sen.
