How to pack a go-bag for quick evacuations
By hrseditor // 2024-09-06

Your preps should include go bags for all family members. With go bags for the whole family, you can quickly prepare for emergencies that may require you to bug out or evacuate. (h/t to SoCoEmergency.org) A go bag (or go-bag) is a bag that contains at least 72 hours' worth of essential supplies, such as water, food and assorted survival gear. Your go bag should have supplies that will help you survive an earthquake or an emergency evacuation. Personalize kits for each family member and store them in a safe place where everyone can easily reach them, such as at home, in your car, at work, or at school. A go bag is crucial, especially during fire season when you may need to evacuate the whole family quickly. Store all items in a sturdy backpack or a small bag like a duffle bag so you can easily carry them as you evacuate. (Related: Prepping 101: 4 Essential tips for new preppers.) When dealing with medical emergencies, add items such as N95 masks or cloth face masks, hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes and a thermometer.

Go bag supplies list

Make sure each go bag contains the following supplies:

You will also need these additional items in your go bag:
